Views from the Skirrid

A few weekends ago, my friend and I decided to do the Skirrid trail. Now, I don’t often do long, steep walks, so this was definitely a personal challenge—and one I genuinely enjoyed!

My “little legs” felt every bit of the steep sections, which were a real slog going up. The path was incredibly slippery from the overnight rain, forcing me (someone with a habit of being clumsy!) to concentrate on every step just to stay upright. Climbers heading back down warned us that the wind was incredibly gusty at the peak, and they weren’t lying! It was so blustery up there, you literally had to hold on tight to avoid being blown off.

Despite the mud, the rain, and the wind, the views at the top were absolutely amazing. A massive sense of achievement and a stunning autumn panorama made every step worth it!
